Schools
are to implement the new English Language Curriculum in full
next school year.
Are you, principals
and teachers, well prepared?
Our
showroom is ready for you to visit.
Please make an appointment
and let us help you and your schools meet your goals.
We trust teachers who
attended any of our three MERS READ SMART Workshops are aware
that reading workshops are taking up about
40% of the lesson
time, starting from September 2005. Our attentive audience would
be familiar with the 'learning to read' and 'reading to learn'
concepts and ideas. They may even be able to explain the differences
between
'shared reading' and 'supported reading' and many more to you.
Don't worry if you
are not well aware of what is mentioned. MERS is here to support
you and your schools through the reform.
Providing Free-of-charge
seminars and workshops led by professionals are one of the many
things MERS offers to teachers. Besides
assisting teachers in designing book packages and scheme
of work, we also
provide teachers with school-based training courses. A school
team of effective
literacy teachers will then be born.
Of course, without
the proper reading materials, no teachers can make reading fun,
meaningful and memorable as it should
be. That
is the reason why MERS is keeping pace with market needs
and providing English learners and teachers with quality
reading
materials that
have numerous text types. Our six-level collection includes
award-winning and research-based series published by renowned
international
publishers. In addition to student books, big books, e-books
and interactive
multimedia resources are also available.
We understand perfectly
that a reading programme is not complete without comprehensive
teaching resources. That
is why we
have pioneered Reading Tasks in our Teacher's Guides.
Reviewed by
local ELT experts,
our Teacher's Guides contain a manageable and clear model
to conduct reading lessons, and valuable resources that
encourage readers
to broaden their real and imaginative experiences, as
well as develop readers' integrated language skills.
